What is Overseaz English Academy?

Overseaz is a locally-owned and operated English language school with a staff of native-English speakers. We offer English language lessons at reasonable rates in an environment that encourages students to use English naturally. The English language ability our students acquire affords them the opportunity to communicate with a wide array of people from all around the world. The teachers at Overseaz gain access to a rewarding work environment filled with creativity and fun and to students eager to participate in lessons, activities and outings arranged by the school.

How do I Apply for a Position at Overseaz English Academy?

Those interested in a position at Overseaz need not be in Japan to apply. We take applications from potential instructors living outside Japan as well. The following is a short list of the minimum requirements Overseaz sets:

Visas

Applicants should:

Have a four-year accredited university degree in order to obtain a visa which will permit legal employment. Overseaz can assist in this application process.

(Or) have a valid working holiday visa.

(Or) have any visa which permits the applicant to live and work legally in Japan (spouse, resident, etc.).

(Or) be a citizen of Japan.

Other

Applicants should:

Be a native-English speaker or a speaker of English at a native level.

Possess excellent written and spoken English language skills.

Be prepared to honor a one-year contract.

Hold a driver’s license valid for use in Japan or which can be switched to a valid Japanese license (preferred).

Possess sufficient funds to pay for the flight to Japan and the transport to Toyohashi.

Hold valid health insurance upon arrival (Overseaz can advise).

And Importantly

Applicants should:

Be bright, energetic, motivated, sociable, conscientious, and dependable.

Love teaching kids from the age of 1 and up!

Be dedicated to teaching and motivating adults of all ages.

Be excited about living in a different culture.

Salary, Work and Benefits

Salary begins at JPY260 000 per month, payable 12 times a year.

Housing is provided (see details below).

Approximately 44 weeks of instruction per year are required along with participation in 3-4 events (approx. 8 weeks of paid holidays).

Bonus upon fulfillment of a one-year contract.

Housing

Conveniently located, furnished apartment is provided.

Rent is automatically deducted from the base salary (rent tends to be in the region of JPY50 000).

Payment for all utilities is the responsibility of the instructor.

Transport

A car is provided for any lessons outside of the school.

Any transport costs incurred from the school to a site outside the school are the responsibility of Overseaz.
